Carl David

Associate Director of Provident Fine Art

Carl was born and raised in Philadelphia and is a third generation Fine Art Dealer in the family owned and operated Gallery business, The David David Gallery, now in its fourth generation. Founded in 1910, the gallery specializes in original 17th-20th century American & European paintings, watercolors, drawings and sculptures.

David David Gallery and Provident Fine Art merged in 2016 in Palm Beach with Provident Fine Art, 125 Worth Avenue, specializing in both old and Modern American and European paintings of superb quality. Exquisite pieces by Leon Kelly, the American Surrealist, are on display as the gallery represents his works exclusively, having acquired the Estate. David and his wife relocated full time to Palm Beach in 2020 and with them did the carefully curated art from the David David Gallery.

Due to the distillation of his generations of experience in the art world, his services have been commissioned for consulting work both in the private markets and for Museum clients as well.

Carl is the author of “Collecting and Care Of Fine Art”, Crown NY 1981 and now the revised edition with Skyhorse Publishing, NY 2016. He is also the author of two other published books (“Bader Field; How My Family Survived Suicide” & “Waking Dreams; The Subtle Reality”) as well as many published articles on Fine Art and non-art related subjects.
